Questions worth answering first
- Do I need an account to set up an alert?
- You need one before the alert can reach you — that is where your phone number lives. But you pick the campground and dates first, and we carry them over, so you are not filling in a signup form to find out whether we cover your campground.
- Do you need my Recreation.gov login?
- Not for alerts. Linking an account is what lets us put the site in your cart instead of only telling you about it, and you can add it later from the watch itself.
- How is this different from a free cancellation alert?
- An alert you read an hour later is already stale — a released site is public again instantly. With an account linked we cart the site before we text you, so it is held while you get to your phone.
